Security and Encryption

Ripa video conferencing endpoints are built with a multi-layered security architecture to protect sensitive corporate communications and prevent unauthorized access.

Signaling Encryption — SIP over TLS

All call signaling between Ripa endpoints, call control platforms, and cloud services is secured via SIP over TLS. This ensures call setup, teardown, and control messages are encrypted and authenticated, preventing interception, tampering, and impersonation attacks. TLS leverages X.509 certificates to validate the identity of communicating parties before any SIP exchange occurs.

Media Encryption — SRTP & AES

Real-time audio and video streams are protected using SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol) with AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). AES encrypts media payloads to ensure confidentiality, while message authentication codes (HMAC-SHA1) guarantee integrity and prevent tampering. Together, SRTP and AES ensure every media packet remains private, untampered, and compliant with enterprise-grade security policies. Ripa supports AES key sizes of 128, 192, and 256 bits, as approved by NIST and aligned with ITU-T H.235 v3 standards.

Firmware Security

Firmware integrity is enforced at every stage — cryptographic validation of signed firmware images ensures only authentic, untampered code is installed. A secured bootloader verifies the firmware’s digital signature at every startup, blocking execution of untrusted code. All firmware updates are restricted to authorized administrators over authenticated HTTPS.

Access Control

Endpoint access is controlled through username/password authentication, with web-based administration secured via HTTPS. Additional protection is available through IP address whitelisting and network segmentation, limiting management access to trusted networks only.

Endpoint Connectivity

Ripa endpoints connect to displays via HDMI, cameras via USB, and the network via LAN — all communication channels are subject to the encryption and authentication controls described above.
